This centerpiece of the A B I D E show displays the themes of creation in the garden-like images on the front. On the reverse we find the verses of John 14 and 15 inscribed in gold and bronze, and the word “Abide”, invoking the words of Christ in one invitation. The number of layers of medium for this piece were very intentional; 7 is a significant number, and some of the symbolism in the medium include:

  • Paper mâché, which is made from paper, flour, and water. The artist was reminded of the Word of God, the Bread of Life, and Living Waters, all descriptions used for Christ
  • Wood, representing the cross
  • Gold and bronze, for the value of the words spoken by Christ
